Nicholas Mau is an Australian screenprint artist whose bold, satirical posters merge political commentary with the craft of serigraphy. Born in 1967, Mau's practice is rooted in a childhood fascination with ephemera - the patterns, typefaces and vivid imagery of mid-century print culture. Today, he channels these influences into large-scale works that subvert nostalgic aesthetics.
Mau's works are held in major collections including the National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria, State Library of Victoria and internationally at the National Library of Estonia and Chaumont Poster Museum in France.
