Rogue Planet acknowledges the Dja Dja Wurrung people on whose unceded lands we make, collaborate and learn. We pay our respects to their Ancestors and Elders, past and present.
Rogue Planet at the Clunes School of Mines
Rogue Planet is a screenprinting and creative hub in the historic Clunes School of Mines building. We bring together local and visiting creatives with the community through exhibitions, workshops and events across diverse creative disciplines. Our gallery provides artists with a welcoming space to exhibit and sell work. Workshops covering printmaking, writing and creative business skills are open to all skill levels and led by creatives from the region and beyond. The space also hosts talks and gatherings where creativity is seen, shared and supported. We value play as much as outcome and offer both physical and online platforms for makers to share and sell their work.
July weekend workshop by Julian Cornish at Rogue Planet.
A Brush with Sentient Beings: An introduction to Oriental Ink Painting, from bamboo leaf to animal.
Discover a different way to make art. This two-day workshop slows you down, clears your head and teaches you to see and mark-make with fresh eyes. You'll learn to paint living creatures; fish, dragonfly, frog, using just ink, water and a bamboo brush, guided by Zen traditions that treat the act of painting as a practice in itself. No experience needed. You'll leave with finished works, new skills and a creative approach you can keep coming back to.

Nicholas Mau
2010
Limited edition screenprint of 22 on Fabriano Rosapino Cotton Rag. 1000 x 700mm
Nicholas Mau is an Australian screenprint artist whose bold, satirical posters merge political commentary with the craft of serigraphy. Born in 1967, Mau's practice is rooted in a childhood fascination with ephemera - the patterns, typefaces and vivid imagery of mid-century print culture. Today, he channels these influences into large-scale works that subvert nostalgic aesthetics.
Mau's works are held in major collections including the National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria, State Library of Victoria and internationally at the National Library of Estonia and Chaumont Poster Museum in France.
